Northfield "Big Mon" F-style mandolin with optional Engelmann top and black finish. It also has a slick sunburst flame-maple pickguard.
The Big Mon's body is about 5mm wider at the widest point and a bit deeper in some spots. While it doesn't look a whole lot bigger, it offers a tone that's warmer, louder, and all-around bigger than a standard F-style body.
The optional Engelmann top is a bit warmer and sweeter than the Adirondack spruce tops typically found on the Big Mon. It still has plenty of power and volume, but we think it's a little less bright and strident than Adirondack, making it a great choice for a melody-focused player.
