Nechville's Saturn resonator banjo was built with lightness and comfort in mind. It's the perfect instrument for folks who want a professional quality bluegrass banjo without the extra weight that comes with a traditional metal tone ring.
This Saturn weighs just 7.6 lbs, which is roughly 35% to 45% lighter than a standard tone ring banjo.
The Saturn's secret is the "Timber-Tronic" wooden tone ring, which provides great tone at a fraction of the weight. Read more about the Timber-Tronic tone ring here.
We're also big fans of the Saturn's sleek design. The matte black Heli-Mount frame and tortoise binding create an entirely unique look that is sure to turn heads at your next jam.
To top it all off, a compound radiused ebony fingerboard and wide frets make for buttery-smooth playability.
This model features a beautiful burl walnut resonator. It also has custom dot fingerboard inlays instead of the standard "Saturn and Stars" pattern typically found on this model.
Tonally, the Saturn is a bit more warm and woody than a traditional tone ring banjo, but it still has plenty of power, clarity, and projection.
The Saturn normally includes a gig big, but we upgraded this one to a hard case.
