As part of Kala's Elite USA series, this custom tenor ukulele is handmade in Kala's Petaluma, California workshop.
While Kala is best known for their entry-level ukuleles, the craftsmanship on their US-made Elite models is top-notch. We feel the Kala Elite ukuleles are in the same class as famous builders like Kamaka and Martin.
This uke has a handful of interesting features that set it apart from the standard Elite lineup:
- Torrefied spruce top
- Figured ebony back/sides
- Padauk binding and purfling
Gotoh UPT mini planetary geared tuners provide smooth and accurate tuning while maintaining a more traditional look.
The 1-1/2" nut width is slightly wider than a standard tenor uke--perfect for players who want a little extra room to maneuver.
Includes Kala-branded hardshell case. We're also throwing in a cool wooden Kala folding stand as well ($45 value).
Tonally it's warmer and more open than you might expect from a hard wood like ebony--something we chalk up to the torrefied Sitka spruce top. It's also very clear on the high end and rings out beautifully when strummed.
