Northfield NF-AT02 archtop octave mandolin with maple back and sides.
Based on a 30's archtop guitar, these octave mandolins are among the most unique instruments in Northfield's lineup.
With a voice that falls somewhere between a guitar and a standard mandolin, they've proven popular with mandolins players seeking a new sound without the need to learn a new instrument.
Northfield's archtop octave mandolins are currently offered in two variations. The NF-AT01 has mahogany back and sides, while the NF-AT02 features flame maple back and sides.
Broadly speaking, the mahogany models tend to be a bit more mellow and sweet while the maple version tends to be a bit brighter. However, we've found that the differences between the two varieties are somewhat subtle--and they all sound amazing!
