Collings 002H G 12-fret guitar with optional German (European) spruce top and 1-3/4" nut. Built 2014, still in pristine, unplayed condition.
Purchased originally from us in 2014 by a longtime customer and collector. It was recently traded in towards another Collings.
Guitar is still in mint, like-new condition with zero signs of play. Not a single nick, scratch, or ding. Frets at 100%. Meticulously cared for by the previous owner, it looks as new as the day it left the factory.
We feel the German spruce top on this guitar combines many of the qualities of Sitka and Adirondack. It has a lot of warmth and low end, but still offers plenty of projection, headroom, and clarity.
Dana Bourgeois puts it this way:
[German spruce] shares a number of characteristics with Engelmann spruce, including color, lightness of weight, harmonic complexity, and fullness at the lower end of the dynamic range.
The 1-3/4" nut is 1/16" narrower than what is normally found on this model. If you are accustomed to other guitars with a 1-3/4" nut, you'll feel right at home on this guitar.
