Gibson TB-3 tenor banjo built circa 1929. Serial number 9465-27.
This TB-3 had been stored for around 50 years before it arrived at our shop. It's very clean and appears to be 100% original and unmodified. The banjo is exactly as it was when it came to us--all we did was wipe it down for photographs.
- From the first batch of 1-piece flange TB-3's - Original Roger's 3-star head - "Fat Boy" rim measures .625" - Flange has slight pull with no cracks or damage - Tension hoop has slight flare but is still solid and serviceable - Some fine pitting and oxidation to finish on flange and tension hoop - Tailpiece has a crack at the 90 degree bend which lets it flex a bit but it is not broken apart. It could possibly be reinforced by silver soldering or brazing - Some wear to corner of arm rest - Misc. scratches to resonator and one wear spot on resonator sidewall at nine o'clock position (see photos) - Includes original hardshell case
