Regular price $1,595 Sale Serial 13505

Beautiful RM-1 Walnut resonator mandolin made by National. This thing has a bright, twangy tone that is incredibly loud!

Maple top with walnut back/sides.

Ebony fingerboard. Extra-wide 1-1/4" nut.

Excellent condition. A couple small dings near back edge. There's a small spot on the back corner (about 1/4" square ) that looks like a repaired nick. It's smooth and appears to have been finished over;  we think it might have been a factory repaired blemish.

Currently strung with Thomastik flatwound mandolin strings.

Includes original hardshell case.

Manufacturer Description

National first unveiled its pioneering resonator mandolins back in the early 1930s, and we keep the tradition alive with our modern versions.

We can proudly echo the original National catalog and say that our instruments “retain the clear, ringing tone typical of a good mandolin, yet the cone amplifier makes possible the volume wanted for ensemble playing.”

Our new mandolin was two years in R&D before it was finally ready for production. It boasts traditional features such as an A-style body, biscuit bridge, and vintage-style open-gear tuners, combined with modern appointments, including an intonated saddle and the comfortably radiused, extended fretboard topping the highly figured maple neck.

The body is carved from walnut, with a beautifully figured maple top. The Art-Deco cast tailpiece and antique brass parts are exclusive to this instrument.

Combined, the features add up to a mandolin with a truly transcendent tone.
